[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]We have a problem at New Life. The problem is that our church is growing…fast. This is a great problem to have! However, we want to make sure every individual at our church is not just attending a service, but truly connected to the body and living in community with other believers.
Ecclesiastes 4:9 tells us how important community is to the health of your Christianity. If you are going to make it in your relationship with Christ, you’re going to need to be a part of a community… you are going to need a Crew.
Crews are the small groups of New Life, designed to create a deeper sense of community.
Here are 3 reasons why crews are so powerful:
1. Crews Are A Place to Grow [Discipleship]
Jesus commanded that we make disciples in Matthew 28:19, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
Church attendance alone does not make you a disciple. You’ve got to be on a journey with other disciples.
God places the people around you in the church that you need in order to grow and thrive. Psalm 1 begins with, “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers.” You have to be careful who you surround yourself with. You will become like the people you spend the most time with so make sure you’re surrounded by people who are pursuing God and serving Him fully.
2. A Place to Belong [Friendship]
You need some good friends in your life. Friends that will do anything to get you closer to Christ. Satan’s goal is to isolate you, to get you by yourself. A predator will always go after those who separate themselves from the herd.
In the story of the paralytic, the paralyzed man had 4 friends who physically carried him, tore the roof off a house and lowered him to the feet of Jesus. You need a crew who has your back regardless of your situation – in other words, a crew that will carry you.
You need some friends that know you intimately and still love you completely.
3. A Place to Connect [Community]
The greatest power of the church is found in its unity. But you can never have unity without community.
In Acts 2, we find the example of how the Holy Spirit falls on the disciples during the Pentecost.
Crews are powerful when you begin to share openly about what God is doing in your life. Share your struggles, your testimonies, your prayer needs and your challenges because your crew is there to pray with you, agree with you, and fight along-side you.[/vc_column_text][vc_button2 title=”Find A Crew” style=”square” color=”black” size=”md” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fatnewlife.org/crews/join-a-crew|title:Crews|target:%20_blank”][vc_button2 title=”Start A Crew” style=”square” color=”black” size=”md” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fatnewlife.org/crews/start-a-crew|title:Crews|target:%20_blank”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]
