Renewing Your Mind

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is- His good, pleasing, and perfect will.”

Do you remember playing with Play-Doh as a kid? You’d pull it out of its little yellow container and place it into a contraption that, when pushed through, transforms it into strings of Play-Doh flavored spaghetti. Our mind is a lot like clay; it conforms to different patterns of thought around us. We’ve fallen prey to habits of thought (whether by upbringing or habit) that have established cycles of behaviors detrimental to our souls. We get stuck in patterns that are hurting us- we keep going back to the same places, the same people, or the same addiction. The solution, however, is not resisting the actions, but transforming and renewing our minds.

If the source of our problems begin with our thoughts, the road to renewal begins with remembering.

When you are a child of God, fear becomes faith, hate becomes love, and death becomes life. Remember, you are fearfully and wonderfully made, and you were made to love all and serve all. Renewal is not just refreshing, it is a total transformation. Allow God to transform your speech, your self-worth, and ultimately your life.
