This world is filled with people living two different realities. Everywhere you go, you’re surrounded by people who are either dead or alive. I’m not talking about in the physical, but from a spiritual standpoint. You may not be able to see it, but it doesn’t make it any less real.
When we become born-again is when we truly come alive and begin to understand that there is eternal life. We begin to make choices based on eternity because we realize that our lives here on earth are nothing but a vapor (James 4:14).
So, what does it mean to be spiritually dead? Until we have an encounter with the Holy Spirit, our hearts are hardened, we’re spiritually blind and we’re separated from God. We were all born spiritually blind, and it’s not until we experience spiritual rebirth that the blinders come off and we begin to have a new vision for our lives.
When we get saved, a radical shift takes place and God begins the process of perfecting us. Although we’ll never reach complete perfection until we get to heaven, God begins the process of perfection the moment we surrender our lives to him. This new birth transforms our inner being. In that moment, he gives us a new heart, a hunger for righteousness, and our desires begin to align with his will and purpose for our lives.
Being born-again is a game changer. Something extraordinary happens inside of us when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. The blood that Christ shed for us begins to flow through us and purifies us of all sin and unrighteousness (1 John 1:7).
“For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.” 1 Peter 1:23
