Trusting in God’s Faithfulness

We’re living in a world that seems like it’s getting crazier and stormier every day.  And it’s easy to buy into the fear and uncertainty of what is going to come tomorrow.

We need to be reminded about God’s faithfulness because we tend to let the actions of others and our current situation cause us to take control of our own lives rather than trusting in God. This leads to fear, worry and stress, but God desires faith, prosperity and peace for us.

It’s more important than ever to remember that God is a faithful God and he promises to be faithful to us.

“But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.”
[2 Thessalonians 3:3]

Here are 3 things to remember about God’s faithfulness:

1. God promises to be faithful to us

We can be thankful that God declares that He is faithful in our lives. The Psalms describe it as his steadfast love and faithfulness.

God’s faithfulness is from His love for you! We don’t need to convince God to be faithful to us, He is faithful because he loves us!  His love is  lasting, permanent and unconditional.

God is faithful because of who He is, not because of what we’ve done.

2. We tend not to trust in his faithfulness, but take our lives into our own hands

If we’re honest with ourselves, you and I want complete control over our lives.  Our first response to a problem is “I’ll fix this!”

It’s like men not asking for directions, or calling the handyman to fix something but in reality, you end up even more lost or the sink ends up leaking even more!

When we try to take our lives into our own hands we end up making it much, much worse. But why do we do this?

We act like this for 3 reasons:

  • Pride – we don’t want to admit the help we need
  • Fear and Doubt – living in fear of the unknown
  • Past Hurts and Betrayals – making it difficult for us to trust

We overcome these issues by trusting in the faithfulness of God. We choose not to live in pride, fear or hurt but in Him.

3. When we trust that God will be faithful to us, it changes the way we live and respond to life’s situations.

There are 3 main benefits of trusting in the faithfulness of God:

  • We have faith not fear
  • We have prosperity not poverty
  • We have peace not stress

Stress is not God’s desire for you, peace is. When you trust in his faithfulness, peace replaces stress. The bible refers to it as “the peace that surpasses all understanding”.

When you live life trusting in God, people around you will begin to notice.  Others can’t understand why you’re at peace even though you may be going through a tough situation.

They’ll ask, “Everyone else is stressed out! Why aren’t you?”

No matter what storms may come in life, we can trust that God will be faithful to keep us and protect us – It is he, not us, who establishes us and guards us .  Put your trust in God and trust in his faithfulness.

In every moment and situation we have a choice:
Trust God is faithful or not?

We can trust in God because He is faithful to keep us and carry us through all things…
